ABBEYFEALE ANGLERS PRESENT CHEQUE: Paddy O’Sullivan and Dee Dennison of the Abbeyfeale Angling Club recently presented Mike Shanahan Clash, a volunteer with Blood Bike Mid-West, with a cheque for €200 to aid the group in their work. Blood Bike Mid-West is a charitable organization that provides transport for urgently needed blood, blood products, patient records, drugs and other medical requirements. Established in 2013, volunteers from all over Limerick including Abbeyfeale provide a free transport service to the HSE, Breast Milk Bank Northern Ireland, Private hospitals, Hospices and even to individuals in their homes. They receive no state funding and all volunteers and directors are unpaid. The group have three specially adapted motorcycles and a van for bad weather. All riders are trained to the highest RoSPA (Royal Society for the prevention of accidents) levels and pay for this training out of their own pockets.
