ABBEYFEALE COMMUNITY ALERT: Following a recent meeting of Abbeyfeale Community Alert Community Garda Roger O’Donoghue and Chairman James Stack have asked all those who are holders of a security system to check that it is in working order. This is done by pressing the call button in order to have the monitoring company answer. Garda O’Donoghue also asked us to remind people to check on sensor lights and outside lights. We are currently attempting to set up a text alert system in the Abbeyfeale area and hope to have further details on this shortly. Any person aged 65 or over, living alone or with another person aged 65 or over is entitled to apply to the group for a panic button. INVITATION TO THE OPENING OF NEW TOILET BLOCK: Town Park News from James Harnett PRO; “This Thursday morning (October 22) at 10.00 a.m. a ceremony will take place in Abbeyfeale Town Park for the official opening of the new toilet building. This project was funded by Limerick City& County Council and erected by the workers on the park C.E. Scheme. It is a beautiful building designed by local architect Kevin Kennelly and it blends in well with the surrounding landscape. Lord Mayor of Limerick, Cllr. Liam Galvin will officiate on Thursday and Canon James Neville will perform the blessing. RURAL EMPLOYMENT & EDUCATION SERVICE: The Rural Employment & Education Service (REES) works with people who experience barriers and who feel they need support to enter or re-enter employment, explore education/training opportunities or wish to become self-employed. We are base in the Round House, St Mary’s Road, Newcastle West and also operate an outreach service. DUAGH SPORTS AND LEISURE FUNDRAISER: The Duagh Sports and Leisure Complex will be holding a fund raising night with Joan Cashman on Friday, November 6 at 7:30pm. Joan Cashman has been styling the nation with over 20 years. This is a fund raising night for the centre to contribute towards the completion of the upstairs of the building and your help and support is needed and appreciated.

FUNDRAISER IN ADARE: The acclaimed "A Wine Goose Chase" is coming to Adare on Friday, November 6. The one woman show is the creation of Susan Boyle (not to be mistaken for the SB of Britain’s Got Talent Fame!) and is a fusion of storytelling about the Irish who transformed the wine world and an interactive wine tasting. During the one hour performance audience members have the opportunity to put their senses to use and will leave with a new insight into a drink that has been part of Ireland’s history for much longer than you might think.
There will be 2 performances when it visits Market Place Café on the Main Street in Adare – 7pm and 9pm.
Tickets cost €25 which includes the show, tastings of 3 wines with Irish connections sponsored by Forrestal Wine Merchants and pizzetta compliments of Market Place Cafe to celebrate the installation of their new pizza oven. FREE COURSE ON RADIO PRODUCTION FOR THE OVER 55’S: Get to grips with how the media works and get involved in radio that makes a difference during a ten week course starting shortly. This new short course is aimed at people over 55 years of age with an interest in community issues or current affairs. In a fun and friendly atmosphere, you’ll explore how radio and TV shapes the world we live in. In a group, you’ll help make a radio programme you’d like to listen to, on the things, big and small that matter to you. The programme will be broadcast as part of a national series all over Ireland.

With the help of the Community Foundation for Ireland, there’s no charge but spaces are limited. Participants will gain a QQI/FETAC Level 3 accredited qualification.
