CONGRATULATIONS AND CELEBRATIONS: A huge well done to all involved in Abbeyfeale Tidy Towns on fantastic results in the 2015 competition – a total of 251 points scored (which is an impressive increase of 17 points on last year’s competition!). The judges, in their report, were very complimentary of our streetscape and were impressed with the look of many of our town buildings. They also commented on the attractiveness of our town’s square and described the Abbeyfeale Bio-diversity Plan 2015-2017 as an “excellent initiative” The sustainable living plan produced by the committee under the Chairmanship of Kevin Kennelly was also described as excellent and it was suggested that it should be offered to other groups. Hardworking members of the committee include Marie McElligott, Angela O’Rourke, Anneke Vierling, Jim Cahill, Margaret and James McEnery, Mary McGill to mention but a few and they are frequently to be seen weeding and picking up rubbish and planting so it is a marvelous fillip for them to have their hard work acknowledged. By the way Killarney received 321 points out of a possible 450 an increase of 4 points on last year so for Abbeyfeale to get an increase of 17 points is massive. Congratulations too to Listowel who won the title of Ireland’s Tidiest Small Town.
