100 YEARS A GROWING: Meenkilly N.S. is holding its Centenary Celebration on Saturday, June 13. The celebrations will start with the celebration of Mass by Bishop Brendan Leahy at 12 noon and will be followed by light refreshments and live entertainment. This is a Community Celebration and all present and past pupils are invited as well as members of the wider community. The organising committee have made every effort to contact all past pupils. TOWN PARK NEWS: Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, the rescheduled Annual Town Park Dog Show takes place this Sunday June 7. at 2.00 p.m. in Abbeyfeale Town Park. A great day out for all the family is guaranteed. Dogs will be judged in 12 different classes and rosettes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd. and any other dogs that catch the judge’s eye. A raffle will also take place. The top prize this year is a scale model remote control Formula 1 racing car, along with various other prizes and vouchers. Food and refreshments will also be available on the day. We hope that the summer weather will have arrived by Sunday, so please come along if you can and support your local park.
CHURCH DOOR COLLECTION: St. Ita’s Faith Camp will hold a church door collection next weekend at all Masses to help with funding the annual camp which is taking place from August 4-7 in the Boys N.S. Further details from Martina 087 2788834.

HORSE AND PONY RACING: The Launch of the annual Races in Relihan’s Inch on Sunday 21 takes place on Friday night in Donal and Ann’s. All welcome.

THIRD ANNUAL GATHER BY THE FEALE JULY 16-19: There are less than 7 weeks to go before the mayhem begins and the third annual Gather by the Feale gets underway. Indeed all interests are catered for this year with the Carnival in the Square, the Bat walk, Darts Tournament, Food and Craft Fair, children’s novelty fancy dress motor parade, the Battle of the Businesses, Outdoor Cinema, the first annual 10k Race for the Title and the first annual Soapbox Derby. That’s not to forget the All Ireland Tug of War and Sheaf Tossing, Zorb Soccer, arts and crafts, Fitzgeralds Stables for the under 13’s,, Hermitage Green in the Marquee at the Grove supported by No Direction and Sound as a Pound, Battle of the DJ’s and live music in various pubs and of course, if the arts are your thing then check out A Cradle of Swans at the Glorach Theatre – a mix of music, visual art, drama and the spoken word. There will be plenty of surprises as well so book your holidays and prepare to be entertained, amused and enthralled by what the committee have come up with this year.

SAM MAGUIRE COMES TO BALLAUGH: Paddy Finucane was in touch to say that Sam Maguire will be accompanied by two Kerry footballers when he comes across the border next Sunday at 2pm and calls to Martin Wards at Healy’s Forge. This is a fundraiser for St. Ita’s Hospital.
COMMUNITY MUSIC INVITATION: Drumming Workshop with John Bowker, renowned drumming facilitator will take place in Glorach Theatre Abbeyfeale on Friday June 5 from 7-9pm. Experience the fun, excitement and power of drumming. Working as a team, the focus of the session will be to make a rhythm to celebrate compassion for each other and for our loved ones. This is an opportunity to take part in something completely different, energising and spirit-lifting and you will be drumming in no time! No musical experience necessary, open to absolute beginners. If you like the session we hope you might consider taking part in a second drumming session at the opening ceremony for The Light on Stone Reflective Space in the Town Park in June. BREAKING TRAD: Congratulations to our own Donal Murphy, eldest son of the late Dan R.I.P and Maureen Murphy, Main St. who has recently formed a new traditional band entitled Breaking Trad. . They launched their first album entitled ‘Breaking Trad’ at the recent Fleadh by the Feale and we wish them great success with it. CHY3 Forms Tax Rebate Scheme Many thanks for the generous financial support you are giving to our Parish. Thanks to people like yourselves, the Parish can benefit from the Tax rebate Scheme available to Charities. Contributions that exceed €250 can help the Parish through this scheme if you are liable for Income Tax of any form including pensions, we hope that you will consider filling out the CHY3 form. You may be aware that the Minister for Finance announced changes to the operation of the Charity Donation Scheme in the Budget 2012. The main changes announced are as follows. 1. Donations from all parishioners both PAYE and Self— Assessed are now treated the same with the tax refund being repaid to the charity in all cases. 2. A new enduring certificate CHY3 is now being issued and is valid for five year and may be renewed at the end of that period. If you are happy to participate in the scheme please fill in your CHY3 form signed and dated and return to Fr John O’Shea. Thanking you for your support. The amount returned to our Parish for last year through the CHY3 forms was €18,764.53. We thank you for making this cheque possible. A CARING CAREER: A new course of the Kilmeedy Healthcare Support Local Training Initiative (LTI) will run from August 312015 to June 25 2016 in Aras Ide, Kilmeedy, Co Limerick. During this full time course, participants will complete two Major Level 5 (FETAC/QQI) Awards in Early Childhood Care & Education and Healthcare Support. LSSC COUNSELLING PROJECT: CLast year the Counselling Project at Limerick Social Services Council worked with over 850 people from Abbeyfeale, Kilmallock, Newcastle West, Rathkeale Limerick City and beyond. UPDATE FROM FR. PAT MOORE AND A REQUEST: “Yesterday I was back in The Bons Hospital in Cork at 8am.It was exactly one month since I finished my combined treatment of radium and chemo. Firstly I had a scope done under slight anaesthetic, done by the surgeon. He found that there was improvement that the treatment was still working on in me. My bloods are holding. Then I had a cat scan, after that I was free to go home.
The surgeon wants to meet me again late next week when he has further findings. He and the team are suggesting surgery mid-June and I am pleased with that. I am so grateful for the concurrent treatment of prayers and good wishes I have got from everyone.I value it like I do the other treatments and tests I am being brought through.Thank YOU for your support.
