It’s getting nearer – the first ever Arts Assembly to hit Abbeyfeale takes place from Thursday, October 17 – 20.
Thursday Night – Launch night in the Library with a display of art, photos and crafts all produced in the Abbeyfeale area.
Friday Morning – Craft theme continues with a food and craft fair in the Square from 10-2pm.
Friday Evening – All roads lead to the Glórach Community Theatre for a night of jazz, songs from the musicals, ragtime and much more. Show appropriately titled “In the Mood and All That Jazz”. Cheese and wine reception at 7.30 pm with curtain up at 8pm. Tickets €10. To book contact Marian on 087 6866450. Tickets are flying out the door so book early to reserve your place.
Saturday 3pm – Mime and street theatre with transition year students Coláiste Íde agus Iosef on Main Street shop windows.
Saturday 7pm – American Blues & Gospel Mass Church of the Assumption.
Saturday 8pm – Big movie preview at the Winner’s Circle Pub from 8pm. Three large screens will be showing “Back Home”, a movie made in Abbeyfeale 21 years ago, in conjunction with the Galway Film Centre. The movie tells the story of a young lass stealing the heart of an unsuspecting returning immigrant, a hidden secret is revealed and a community is torn apart. Gripping stuff. Movie features colourful local characters, memorable locations and provides a snap-shot of Abbeyfeale in the 1990’s.
Sunday 7.30pm – “Let us Entertain You” evening at the G.A.A. Pavilion. Nibbly bits followed by show at 8pm where a night of comedy, drama, poetry and prose awaits you. The night will feature a host of local artists, drama groups, poets and thespians.
